July 11 - Kicks

In going through pictures of last month's cross-country trip, note Winona, AZ, and its connection with Bobby Troupe's (Get Your Kicks On) Route 66.  Seems like a good enough reason to compose (Get Your Zen On) Interstate 80-55-44-40-15-10, Op. 267, in 3 parts thus far -- the first two as sound-file collages based on performances of the Troupe by

American Country-Western Swing Version, n.d.
Bing Crosby (1903-1977)
Perry Como (1912-2001)
Nat King Cole (1919-1965)
Church Berry (1926-2017)
Patti Page (1927-1913)
Little Willie Littlefield (1931-2013)
Tim Hauser (1941-2014) - Manhattan Transfer
Mick Jagger (b. 1943) - The Rolling Stones
Van Morrison (b. 1945)
Martin Michael Murphey (b. 1945)
Lux Interior (1946-2009) - The Cramps
Natalie Cole (1950-2015)
Ray Benson (b. 1951) - Asleep at the Wheel
Lee Brilleaux (1952) - Dr. Feelgood
Brian Setzer (b. 1959)
Dave Gahan (b. 1962) - Depeche Mode
John Mayer (b. 1977)

Part I arrays the above in Garageband grid where each second equals a year from 1900 on.  With the no-date Western Swing version at zero, the Crosby begins at 3 seconds, como at 12, etc.

Part II superimposes each of the above sequentially at one-minute intervals...

Part III is begun as a new short vocal-quartet orchestral modal swing-blues, Stravinskian-minimalist, intuitively orchestrated...

Additionally, compose page 5 The Decameron: Eighth Day, Op. 266: Novel V - Three Young Men Pull Down the Breeches of a Judge,

on a day that also features time to cruise around town,

touching base again with Western Dental re concerns --

this the

102nd of summer,

high down 9 to 91...
