the

Canyon,
north on 29 / 221, an apparently quiescent Atlas Ridge,
but the prospects beyond Napa River Bridge still looking dire -- giant billowing plumes over the Sonoma Mountains.
South on 121 to another roadblock on 12;
east on same in the gathering gloom... 195th day of summer, high down 1 to 80 (82 in the fire zone)...
