Out
early
for
newspaper and other supplies,
back
to
the
inimitable
John's
and
north,
chasing
to
White Rabbit for coffee,
then
onward,
haltingly,
resolutely,
East
on
I-10,
in
view of
San Gorgonio,
South
on
spectacular
243,
up
windingly
into
the
San Jacintos,
by
Diamond Zen Center,
to Idylwild's San Bernardino National Forest Visitor's Center,
onward
towards
Garner Valley,
near the junction of 371,
for a walk on this latter, from Divide to Curve,
as part of a personal Pacific Crest through Southern California.
Not exactly the longest day trek by a long shot,
but
onward
via
road,
surmounting
Cahuilla
Ridge,
past
bouldery
expanses,
descending
towards
Aguanga
Valley
and
79
West --
Radec /
Butterfield
Valleys --
ultimately
ending up
at
Temecula Lucille's for gumbo and an extended return adventure....
